Overview 
The Woodbury County Youth Development Educator plays a vital role in advancing Iowa 4-H’s mission of positive youth development. This position fosters meaningful learning experiences by connecting youth with caring adults and cultivating life skills in leadership, citizenship, communication, and lifelong learning. The educator will lead county-wide efforts to grow and support 4-H programming across both urban and rural communities, ensuring inclusive, high-quality engagement for all participants. 

Key Responsibilities 

Program Leadership & Growth 

• Coordinate and expand 4-H programming throughout Woodbury County
• Recruit, support, and retain youth participants and adult volunteers
• Develop and implement strategies to engage diverse audiences, addressing local youth needs in both urban and rural settings
• Promote 4-H clubs, Clover Kids, and regional/statewide events
• Develop and implement a year-round county recruitment and retention strategy to bring diverse youth from entry-point activities into long-term involvement in 4-H.
• Assure compliance with risk management policies, including required training and background checks of volunteers.
• Responsible for coordinating multiple aspects of the 4-H program at the Woodbury County Fair, including but not limited to static building exhibits, communication, clothing events, state fair coordination, and volunteer management.

• Organize and deliver county and multi-county events with volunteer leadership
• Administer evaluations and share impact reports with stakeholders
• Ensure alignment with statewide 4-H policies and procedures

Community Engagement & Communication
• Build strong relationships with families, volunteers, schools, and community partners
• Provide educational programming in schools upon request
• Communicate effectively through newsletters, media outreach, and public relations
• Responsible for the monthly communication of the 4-H Scene newsletter and other publications
• Coordination and delivery of summer youth programs and non-school day programs.

Volunteer Development & Support
• Organize and lead volunteer training sessions
• Support youth committees and project teams in executing programs
• Recognize and evaluate volunteer contributions through the annual recognition event.
• Delegate responsibilities based on volunteer strengths and interest

Administrative & Collaborative Duties
• Manage 4-H data and generate reports through 4-H Online and FairEntry.
• Collaborate with County Director, Regional Director, and 4-H Program Specialists to secure financial resources
• Assist with fundraising and local grant applications
• Coordinate with other County Youth Coordinators to advance regional programming
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Quali?cations
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education
• Experience working with youth, families and volunteers

Salaried Exempt Position – 40 hours/week 
Salary $44,000-48,000 based on experience
Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30 
Nights and weekends as needed
